Nazareth

We are leaving Jesus' childhood home where we were greeted by not-so-subtle Moslem banners. In the small square where they hung, a Moslem cleric did street "evangelism" on three bored young men sitting on a bench. While we waited in the drizzle to cross, a bus drove by. A young man (common theme here) raised his middle finger to us and kept it raised till he was out of sight, no doubt singing "America the Beautiful" the whole time. Welcome to Nazareth!

We visited the Church of the Annunciation. Underneath, to the side, are excavations of first century Nazareth (pictured).

We also saw Mary's well - so called because it is the only natural source of water in Nazareth. Mary and the other women would have used it.
